TheStreet.com

TheStreet.com is the leading brand in financial reporting, analysis and news tailored for the individual investor on the Web. TheStreet.com asked DeepBridge to help leverage its high-profile name to broaden its customer base into the lucrative institutional investor market.

The client sought to initiate a unique, online poll and evaluation of sell-side equities analysts by their buy-side customers. The first of its kind, the online poll required implementation of a ranking system using 84 industry categories of U.S. Equities tracking 3,000 analysts nationwide.

DeepBridge's architecture included an Oracle database using tailored software and a database tracking system to enable online voting. This electronic polling system provides real-time, Web-based Internet balloting and research, with customized intranet and Internet statistical analysis and reporting functionality that results in extremely detailed rankings.

TheStreet.com successfully conducted its first poll in 2000, maintaining and internally tracking daily election results which were further broken down into various categories. Quantitative analysis of sell-side analysts and their stock-picking efficiency, as well as various other rankings, were compared with the results of industry-leader First Call to tabulate a combined ranking that was promoted heavily on the TheStreet.com Web site.

As a result of the new technology DeepBridge deployed for TheStreet.com, what was formerly a consumer Web site can now be marketed to the professional Wall Street community.
